Heh. I was going to vote for not enough bourbons.
Which was, needless to say, the answer I was hoping for.
If you get the value yourself using SvIV() and you need it as an int, you should probably remember to cast to an int just to be safe.
That's probably good advice .... it *must* be good advice, as it's something I've never done :-) .... but I will in future.
