Ooooh ... I don't know if it's causing a problem, but I recommend you get
something (quite a bit) later than version 1.50 of nmake.
I  believe there's a more recent version of nmake available with
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003  - or perhaps it's with  the Microsoft
.NET
Framework SDK - both of which are freely available from the MS website.

Also which C compiler are you using ?
