So I went back to look at my old emails and found one whre I said:

And sure enough, adding -framework JavaVM to the Java/Makefile fixed it.

I have applied the patch. Just yesterday I noticed your name in the comments
and was wondering why there was nothing in the OTHERLDFLAGS option...
