Based on Patrick's comments, it got the impression there was a way to supply the Java at runtime. I could probably do the java creation within a BEGIN block and supply it at compile time.
Check out the "bind" method in the Inline.pm docs. That's the way to do it at runtime. Also check t/09_usages.t in the I::J test suite for an example. Patrick
