So it seems to me to be an ActivePerl 5.8.X runtime error.
I guess that could be so - perhaps the vst.dll does something that bothers
the 5.8 perl.exe, but doesn't bother the 5.6 perl.exe.
So in short it will work IFF I install 5.6.1 first. Install Inline.
Remove
5.6.1 and install 5.8.4. The \Perl\site folder is left so the original
install
of Inline is still available.
Seems odd to me. I've used Inline::C on Windows fairly extensively and
haven't come across anything like that :-)
I would think that your actual Inline installation would be unaffected by
whether it was built by 5.6.1 or 5.8 - so the stipulation that you had to
build and install Inline using 5.6.1 is a little suss. (I could be wrong
about that, of course.)
Anyway - at least you've found a working solution (albeit a little
cumbersome). Thanks for the feedback.
Cheers,
Rob
