When you install VisualStudio, normally the MSVC debug runtime DLLs (msvc*d.dll) are installed. It seems that this did not happen on your PC. You can either try to copy/install these DLLs from "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\Debug_NonRedist\amd64\Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT" to the Windows system directory (see some info here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jigarme/archive/2008/05/08/vc-debug-c-runtime-files. aspx), or just reinstall VisualStudio from scratch.

Every builds fine with the 32 bit compilers. I figure it is a Visual Studio configuration problem. But at a lost how to track it down. When Visual Studio was installed on this machine, the installation was pushed by my IT department and did not include the 64 bit compilers. I then had to go back to the original installer to get the 64 bit compilers installed. I have this problem when building itkhdf5 and I have had this problem building itksys (specifcally the ProcessFwd. code). Both hdf5 and itksys do some heavy mojo related to generating files from tools built by the build process. Build log 1>------ Build started: Project: itkhdf5, Configuration: Debug x64 ------ 1>Generating ../H5Tinit.c 1>The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. 1>Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Generating ../H5Tinit.c" Windows Event log Activation context generation failed for "c:\Projects\Insight\ITK-build\bin\Debug\H5detect.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found.
