http://www.itk.org/Doxygen/html/classitk_1_1BinaryImageToLabelMapFilter.html can be used to do further computation as a LabelMap or http://www.itk.org/Doxygen/html/classitk_1_1ConnectedComponentImageFilter.html can be used if you want to work with it as an Image. Both with identify the connected components in the segmentation.
