Charles,
According to A.R. Vidler,
"The term 'fundamentalism' from a Bible Conference of conservative evangelicals
at Niagara in 1895. They took their stand upon 'five fundamentals': the
inerrancy of the Scriptures, the deity of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Birth, the
substitutionary theory of the Atonement, and the bodily resurrection and
imminent bodily Second Coming of the Lord."
- Alec R. Vidler. The Church in an Age of Revolution.1971.Penguin Books.
It seems that unless you hold this *cluster* of beliefs you are not a
"fundamentalist", just an orthodox Christian.
Of course, there are some people on this list who have, as Tom described it,
"adopted pagan rites into some sort of Christian significance," and insist in
describing the resurrection in those terms. ;-)
