Yo Friends,
With doctors appointments, a heavy pastoral load and a family visitor from overseas, I'm still in the process of locking down my worship service for Sunday.
Our congregation at St. John's in Cowes (on Phillip Island) consists of retired people, semi-retired, a smattering of families, and "shearwaters" (these are our weekend folk who come to their beachside cottages when the weather's nice and always in the summer).
This Sunday 31st October, we are having a "Shearwater Sunday" where our weekenders will participate in the service using their musical/singing skills, poetry/prayers, and other talents. Some of them will take the Bible readings.
The Theme for our Service is: "A Celebration of Life by the Sea"
The service emphases both the human gifts and the gifts of creation -
Our participation in fellowship and service, in leisure, and in "re-creation"Is there anyone who has done something similar in a holiday or seaside community? If so, could you send me your worship ideas, sermon notes, poems and selected readings? (Please reply directly to: [EMAIL PROTECTED])
The Music I've chosen is as follows:
* CHORAL INTROIT: "Everything That Has Breath" (TIS 715 - A Four-Part Round by Terrye Coelho)
Everything / that has breath / praise the Lord of hosts forever, / praise the Lord!
* PRAISE: "I Sing the Almighty Power of God" (TIS 119 - Tune: Ellacombe)
* THANKSGIVING: "Sing a New Song, Sing a New Song" (TIS 166 - by James P. McAuley)
* FOR THE YOUNG: "The Sounds in God's World All Agree" (TIS 176 - by Digby Hannah)
* FAITH: "Stars and Planets Flung in Orbit" (TIS 186 - Herman G. Stuempfle")
* BENEDICTION: "Everything That Has Breath" (TIS 715 - A Four-Part Round by Terrye Coelho)
Everything / that has breath / praise the Lord of hosts forever, / praise the Lord!
I welcome prompt and pleasant responses ... Thanks!!
Christ's Blessings & Shalom,
John Maynard, Minister St. John's Uniting, Cowes, Victoria
