I posted full instructions for a DH install on my blog a while back: http://blog.lrdesign.com/2008/05/installing-insoshi-on-a-dreamhost-account/
This will get it running, but unfortunately your site will go down after a few hours and there is *NO* way to fix this at present. This is because Insoshi requires ferret for search, and Dreamhost won't let you run ferret_server; it's against their rules forbidding persistent processes. You can start ferret_server, but DH's process monitor will kill it within a few hours and your site will go down. (Switching to sphinx won't fix this, because the sphinx daemon is also a separate persistent process). You're fine on a VPS, but not on shared hosting at DH or Bluehost. Until Insoshi finds a way to optionally configure search using only MySQL fulltext indices or even just with plain query (instead of a separate indexer like ferret or sphinx), Insoshi is not usable on modern shared hosting providers. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Insoshi developer site: http://dogfood.insoshi.com/ Insoshi documentation: http://docs.insoshi.com/ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Insoshi" group.
