just got insoshi up and running on slicehost - had to do some hacks to get it up - the 500 error for me was database related - it looks like the server likes to run in production mode, and without populating the production database - error 500 - look in the production log (in my case). So I simply changed the database yml file so the dev and pro databases were the same.
