[install-discuss] A "Meta" Slice

I remember reading a post (by Dennis Clark) mentioning that it is a good idea 
to maintain a "meta" slice (something to that effect) in the Solaris partition. 
 I couldn't find that tread.  Could someone please enlighten us a little bit?
