We've been prototyping a ZFS-based file server with Solaris 10. Based on
the announcement from Sun that they are going to provide support for
openSolaris, we are evaluating migrating our project.

It looks like there is no automated install yet? We have a very efficient
jumpstart configuration for Solaris 10, it only takes about five minutes of
interactive time to get a box from bare iron to fully deployed server.

I see a very nice requirements and design document for an automated
installer, but based on the archives of this mailing list it doesn't look
like it's going to be available in the short to mid term.

It doesn't look like there is a way to at least network boot the install
image, am I mistaken or do you need to physically insert a CD into the
server for the installation?

Are there any viable workaround options to decrease the interactive time
required for installation or define a standard configuration and
installation without having to select options each time?

While running Solaris 10, I've been very envious of all the cool ZFS
features that hadn't been back ported yet. It will be sweet if we can enjoy
the benefits of cutting edge openSolaris features while still having an
official support contract to keep management happy. I've been trying to
contact our contract sales representative to get more details on
openSolaris coverage, does anyone on this list happened to have an opinion
on whether or not it would be sufficient for an important production
server?

Thanks...
