I have a HP notebook (dv9200nr) with 2 sata 150 hard disks and a Toshiba HD-DVD / DVD RW drive, and I am unable to install from the live cd - the error messages I receive are:
ata_id_common: BUSY STATUS 0x80 error 0x80 "repeat of above" atapi_start_cmd: drive select failed WARNING: /pci at 0,0/pci-ide at 1f,1/ide at 0(ata0): timeout: early timeout, target=0 lun=0 atapi_start_cmd: drive select failed these error messages repeat. This development notebook I use also has 2 hard disks, and I cleared a 20 GB unallocated space for opensolaris on the main hard drive hd0 - they are sata 1.5 drives. Opensuse and ubuntu (linux) install and work fine on this notebook. Any help getting it installed ? I'm not sure if the problem is with the sata drives or the hd-dvd rom - or both! I tried to burn an iso image of the opensolaris cd to a usb flash drive, but that doesn't work either when I try to install from it - I get an error message which states that no boot file is found. Can you tell me how to put the opensolaris cd on a usb zip drive so that I can install from it, or can you mail me an opesolaris installable on a usb zip drive - I promise I will mail it back the next day? (Matt, P.O. Box 330267, San Francisco, CA 94133) Thanks for any help. I really want to start trying out solaris. Matt This message posted from opensolaris.org
