The core file that pfinstall seems to have created would be the first 
thing to look at (there may be a bug identifiable based on that), but 
most likely you've tried to go "too far" in between upgrades.  Tthe LU 
upgrades are generally not tested across long jumps in Nevada since they 
will never be supported.  I'd suggest trying to upgrade to 79b (which 
was the last SXDE release) first, then to the current, as this will most 
likely keep you in the tested paths.
