As luck would have it, I was having some similar issues with an old Compaq Evo I was trying to test with this morning. When it's in GRUB, press e to edit the entry you're trying to boot, press e again to edit the 'kernel' line and append "-B disable-ohci=true" to the command. Then press b to boot it and perhaps you'll get past this. How much USB support you'll have is another matter... Dave
