System is ASUS Z92M, nVIDIA GeForceGo 6100, Turion X2, 1GB memory Solaris Express, Developer Edition
Default Solaris Interactive Install First X windows screen shows black oblong window with no visible contents. After delay, falls back to text, ERROR: The X Window System failed to initialize.... Tried again with just standard install, same result with X Windows test screen. Note that this issue has only started with b60. b57 and b59 (and earlier) did not have this problem. Continued with text install, which was very slow unless I scratched the mouse pad - this is due to an apic timing issue with Turion X2 cores. Following install, X and gnow started OK, but with 1024x768 resolution instead of WXGA. ran "update_drv -a -i '"pci10de,247"' nvidia" and rebooted. nvidia module now loaded, but screen resolution is still max of 1024x768. Logout and start non-graphics console screen, repeating character problem exists, although it does not seem as bad as earlier releases. Reboot so my USB flashdrive can be mounted (does not mount if just plugged in while OS is running). I see that the flash drive partitions is now mounted as "/rmdisk/ao/p0:1". This is a change from b57 and is not a "good thing" IMHO. Used to mount as "/rmdisk/ao". Install NVIDIA driver 1.0-9755 Reboot Now I finally have full 1280x800 WXGA resolution :=) Not sure if all of these issues belong in this forum, the text oly install is the big install issue for me, but I suspect all the graphics issues are related. Happy to raise issues elsewhere - just point me in the right direction. Cheers Tony -- Tony Reeves Southbridge New Zealand +64 3 324 2983 +64 21 216 5992
