   We had installed S10 11/06 (Update 3) on a couple of Toshiba 
Satellite D820s
   without any issues. Everything worked except for the audio. I guess 
you will
   have better luck trying out 11/06.

   For the current problem try this:
   Boot into failsafe mode and rebuild the boot_archive.

   rm /a/platform/i86pc/boot_archive
   bootadm update-archive -R /a

   Reboot and select the first entry in Grub.
