My supposition is the following: you must have a loghost ALIAS into /etc/inet/hosts, that is on a line with a valid hostname (i.e. first name after IP addr):
So if you put: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myhost.domain.com loghost and myhost.domain.com is a fake FQDN --> the loghost will be added to a valid entry in hosts file. Try to to put something like: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myhost myhost.domain.com loghost hope this works, Adrian On 6/11/07, Mike Kuhnkey <mkuhnkey at comcast.net> wrote: > Apparently I don't understand the relationship between localhost, loghost, > and FQDN entries. > When "hosts" file is copied from "/tmp" to "/a/etc/inet/hosts" the entry: > "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myhost.domain.com loghost" remain intact but; > "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myhost loghost is added to end of copied hosts file? > > When "hosts" file is copied from "/tmp" to "/a/etc/inet/hosts" the entry: > "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myhost loghost myhost.domain.com" is either being truncated > after loghost, or the entire line is being skipped and; > "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myhost loghost is being generated? > > In any case it appears the .tmp_proto on s0 has nothing to do with this? > > > This message posted from opensolaris.org > _______________________________________________ > install-discuss mailing list > install-discuss at opensolaris.org > http://opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/install-discuss >
