Hi all,
apologies if this has already been mentioned - I couldn't
find it in the archives so any pointers would be appreciated.

One thing that really separates Solaris and OpenSolaris from
the linux and *bsd distros is that we insist on having the
installation media or image local to the target system (or
at least, within the organisation).

The linux and *bsd distros also have the option of installing
from a conveniently-placed public ftp or http server. This
public server is also the repository for updated versions of
packages.

We've got worldwide sunsolve mirrors for patches, and it
seems to me that if we could resolve any relevant legal
issues then offering a similar service for installs would
be a good thing.

What do others think about this?

cheers,
