Not sure why Casper's response didn't show up in thread. His suggestion to double-check the share as ro/anon=0 was the issue (should have caught that basic error). The root cause of the problem turned out to be a corrupt line in dfstab. The following entry was there:
tasmania-nv# grep nv.sparc /etc/dfs/dfstab share -F nfs -o ro,anon=0 /export/install/nv.sparc But the share showed up rw for some inexplicable reason... tasmania-nv# share | grep nv.sparc - /export/install/nv.sparc rw "" ...w/out any msg's in any of the logs. I deleted that line in dfstab, typed in another by hand & restarted nfs/server. It's working fine now. Thanks, Casper! This message posted from opensolaris.org
