The intent of my question was to understand the future state. The upshot seems to be that no, future versions of Solaris will NOT provide only "Idiot level" installation options, but will provide good levels of flexability / configurability one way or another. In the short term sxde provides either the old or a shell-of-a-new installer.
I also thing that fludolph is saying that the system I just installed has the root on zfs ?!? I'll have to check that out. Thank you! This message posted from opensolaris.org
