Use one fdisk partition with multiple slices.  Solaris doesn't support
having more than one Solaris-type fdisk partition.  If you set up your
system that way, it just won't work.

Typically, people use around four slices for an LU configuration.  Two
are equal-sized, and are used for the boot environment root file
systems.  One is for swap/dump.  And the fourth is for local storage
(e.g., /export/home or a ZFS pool).

Yes, that should work, but (in general) I don't recommend attempting
to "minimize" the system by removing packages.  It ends up being
extremely painful to craft a custom set of packages for desired
features.

Instead, just turn off the things you don't want.  Disk space is
cheap, and your time isn't.
