Thanks Dave...
I have a read a few people blogs and have not found the best way to 
install all system level packages (ie zones zfs bash gtar...) but 
exclude all other GUI applications..
Leaving xserver this is handy to keep, but gnome and cde can go....

What I have done at the moment and seems to work...is a

/bin/yes | pkgrm -A -Y <category>

on all categories but system..

I them have to remove GIMP and some others
Also have to reinstall SUNWlu* (Live Upgrade)
