Hello all- I am attempting to install SolarisExpress b62 on an x86 system. The system boots from the DVD and loads grub. However, when I attempt to select 'Solaris Express' from the grub menu, the screen goes blank for 10-20s seconds and then displays:
> kernel /boot/platform/i86pc/kernel/unix -B install_media=cdrom > [Multiboot-elf, <0xc0e3c0, 0xd614:0x0>, <0x400000, 0xab71c:0x0>, > <0x800000:0x9d93:0x3bdf9>, shtab=0xc0e3c0, entry=0xc00000] > module /boot/x86.miniroot > > Error 25: Disk read error > > Press any key to continue... If I go to the grub prompt, I am able to view the contents of the DVD: > grub> cat /<tab> > Possible files are: .catalog .cdtoc .install .install_config > .slicemapfile .autorun.inf autorun.sh boot Copyright DeveloperTools > installer JDS-THIRDPARTYLICENSEREADME License README.txt Solaris_11 > .volume.inf .volume.inf.1 .volume.inf.2 .volume.inf.3 .volume.inf.4 > .volume.inf.5 .volume.inf.6 I have found the following references which describe similar behavior, but do not describe how to solve the problem: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=106667 http://www.mail-archive.com/opensolaris-help at opensolaris.org/msg01070.html It does not seem, however, that this is related to Bug #6513165, as the grub menu does load. I am using an ASUS A7N8X motherboard with a SATA primary disk, and an LG ATAPI DVD drive. NetBSD was installed from CD earlier today, and all hardware appears to function as expected. I am currently burning another installation DVD to see if this is a media error. We'll see on that, though... Any thoughts on the matter? Thanks, - Oliver
