If we're talking about SPARC machines: Yes, you're wrong. The root slice 
can be any slice (but it shouldn't be slice 2). I believe it's the same 
for X86.

To boot from another slice you must only change the "boot-device" alias 
in the OBP, e.g normally the alias looks like

boot-device=<path_to_the_bootdisk>*:a*

The ":a" specifies the slice to boot from (a = 0, b = 1, etc)  - change 
it to ":b" for example to boot from the slice 1.


I do not use JET so I don't know how to configure that in JET.
