Yes, you will not see anything that you enter in the password field.
But, after entering the password, did you click on <Login> or hit <ENTER>?
Were you able to login after that?

And just after the installation, there is only one user - that is the 'root'
user.
So, you cannot login with your username.
First you have to login as root and then setup new users and then only you
can try to login with your username.
