Hi Brian, We currently allow setup of SVM mirrored roots as part of jumpstart install only. We do allow upgrade of the mirrored root with the interactive installer after the mirror is created and installed.
For the new Solaris installer we are moving away from SVM/UFS and moving to ZFS(for the 2nd project in the new install program). We will provide the ability to setup ZFS root pools as part of the new interactive installer for the 2nd project. The schedule on this project is TBD. The Linux distributions do a nice job of allowing the user configuration capabilities during install. The trade-off is that the more configuration capabilities you allow, the increased potential that the install procedure becomes more complicated. And perhaps too complicated. So, we are working on a model that balances the need for some configuration capabilities while keeping the process as simple and straightforward as possible.
