The JDS Desktop community has a pkgbuild tool that appear to be useful for building packages. Especially if you need to do it on both Solaris and Linux. Could these be something to leverage? http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/desktop/communities/jds/building/#jds-build-solaris-packages
