I know your pain because I've had that problem myself. You don't need to
install OpenSolaris without ZFS to reduce the RAM usage, instead you can just
add a "set zfs:zfs_arc_max =" parameter to the:
/etc/system
file and that will set a resource limitation in the kernel on how much RAM ZFS
is allowed to use for file system cache. See the URL link below for an
