An easy work around to not have to create a new beadm boot environment is to 
use the UNIX System V R4 packages to install and update virtualbox without 
using IPS. That's how I do it. The commands are "pkgrm" to remove the old SVR4 
package, "pkgadd -d" to install the new SVR4 package and pkginfo and "pkginfo 
-l" to check on the status of the package.
