This could be a bug or issue with the 8042 keyboard driver (kb8042). It's very hard to diagnose such a problem without being at the system in question, though. The best I can do is ask for the kernel message buffer and see if there are some diagnostic messages that were printed. (use the dmesg command or "mdb -k" followed by ::msgbuf <enter>).

Quoting Rafael Barros Felix de Sousa, who wrote the following on Thu, 1 Jul...:

Keyboard works fine on GRUB.
But, after choosing the propper option in Grub Menu, when it gets to the first
input screen which prompts the user to choose preferred locale/language, the
keyboard no longer works, no Caps-Lock, no any key (except Power Button). And
sadly no way to move forth.

I'm running (trying) it on a Toshiba Satellite A70-S249 notebook (yes it's old).
I also have a FreeBSD on it and the keyboard works fine with that OS.

Is there a way to solve it besides using an USB Keyboard?
