Steve:
As it turns out, we had users that had installed Dell E6410 with
Solaris 11 Express LiveCD.
Xorg will only work with the vesa driver. When you do the LiveCD
install, you will need to select the vesa driver in the grub menu option
for Solaris 11 Express, then install will work.

Hi Steve,
Please provide more detail on which version of OpenSolaris you are
trying to install,
and when/where do you see the error message?
Have you tried the latest release: Oracle Solaris 11 Express 2010.11?

I'm working on my first ever install of opensolaris and have stalled
before I even got started. I've searched the internet and see this is
a problem but have been unable to see any resolutions to my problems.
The error message:
asy0: UART @ 3f8 scratch register: expected 0x51, got 0xff
Cannot identify UART chip at 3f8
I'm using a Dell Latitude E6410 with an Intel i5 M 540 chip. Any help
is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
