We have over the years had a number of instances were IM has allowed us to
identify customer networks containing infected machines. During the recent
attack we noted a customer network producing a large number of undeliverable
packets to their connects to our network. All of the customer's interfaces
we red, but the corresponding interfaces on our side were relatively quiet.
We contacted the customer network admin and he found a new virus on a
machine he had just 'cleaned' an hour earlier.

We have assisted almost every customer we have at one time or another
identify a virus that had begun broadcasting packets. It is one of the value
added services we provide that our customers expect from us.

Folks:

A couple customers have reported that InterMapper was useful in detecting or
responding to this most recent round of virus/work attacks.

Do you have a story that shows how InterMapper helped you? We're looking to
pull together an application note or white paper that gives some hints for
new ways to use InterMapper. Thanks!
