Yes, I see this too.

I don't think it would be a good idea to suppress it, though. If
InterMapper is brought up and an important server or link is down, you'd
want to be notified of that, right? If IM suppressed the initial
notification, you'd never find out that something was down.

What I've been doing is modifying my maps so that there are fewer
errors showing and fewer notifications being generated. For example, in
the past, out of laziness I might have left a server on the map after it
had been taken out of service. I know why it's flashing red, nothing to
worry about. Or, I might have left a switch port link on the map after
the server icon has been deleted. The port has no link light, so that's
an alarm.

However, after a few years of this sort of kruft accumulating, I went
through and cleaned up everything. The idea is for every map to show
everything as green as the normal status. This helps with the barrage
of sirens at startup, but it also helps when you're using map status
probes. The map status probe will go red if even one item on the source
map is red. I want the operators to see green lights unless something
is actually wrong.

Anyway, if you're getting 80 alerts when your maps load up, you might
want to think about cleaning up your maps to get rid of the alerts. And
if there are actually 80 different things wrong with your network...,
well, you might want to fix them :)

Hope this helps,

Doug

Is there a way to suppress Alarm emails on Intermapper Startup?
When firing up a folder full of maps I always get barraged with
about 80 emails complaining about an interface link down or
interface errors.
What is needed is a suppress email timer on IM startup option.

Does anyone else see this and am I missing some easy cure?

Thanks John.
