Matt,

I am compiling your comments in this discussion, and passing them on to the developers as an enhancement request.

It looks like the core ideas here are either A.) allowing the user to customize the columns in the web device list or B.) adding the device list to the Console and Remote.

        Thank you for your comments. Let us know if you have any other ideas.

Thanks,
Ian

That it does. Thanks for the pointer.

I'd still like to leave open my feature request for more accessible customizations in the web pages.

Right now we're limited to basically wrapping the core content of the current pages (Map list, error, full, outages, device list) with our own shell. But you can't change the fundemental way the data is presented - or what data is presented.

Doesn't the "Full" page do this? (It does for me).
Click on "Map List", then on "Full". The IP address is displayed
on the right most column.

Subject: Re: [IM-Talk] Custom web pages
So this would be for any devices using a custom probe right? That covers
a fair number of our devices, but not all of them.
It is a good tip though - I think I'll give it a whirl on a probe now.
This only solves part of my problem unfortunately. Sometimes we need to
find a device by IP address, having all addresses listed on the device
list makes it a simple "Find" in your browser.
There isn't any way I can currently locate to find by address in
InterMapper - using either Remote or the web interface

Matt-

For telnet or web access we sometimes use an insert at the bottom of the "Device Status" dialog which is accessible everywhere.

<snmp-device-display>
\4\Date/Time:             \1\ ${Date}
\4\Site Temp:             \1\ ${Temp} F
\0B\ALARM POINT LIST:\p\
\B\${alarmpointlist}

\B\ACCESS:\p\ \u2=telnet://10.16.30.12\DEVICE_NAME\p\
\u2=telnet://10.16.30.12:2001\PORT_1\p\
\u2=telnet://10.16.30.12:2002\PORT_2\p\

</snmp-device-display>
Note: The Access line wrapped in the email but the line formats with blue underlined (hittable) links to telnet:// or http://

I'd like to be able to modify the columns displayed by the device list
from the IM web server. I'm pretty sure this isn't currently doable -

someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Currently there just appears to be the ${devicelist} macro - which generates the entire device list table.

I'd like to be able to do something more along these lines:

<!Begin Device List>
<TD>$\{devicename}</TD><TD>$\{deviceadrs}</TD> ...etc...
<!End Device List>

So that there's an actual block that describes the format for the
table.
My immediate goal is just to add a column listing the IP address for each device, and to have that field be a link that opens a telnet session to that device. But this format would be quite useful for many
other purposes as well.

Since you can't access the device list via IM Remote, customizing the web version is the next best thing in terms of flexibility.
