Please accept my criticism as positive feedback to help make
InterMapper a better product. However, the procedure that you describe
isn't really very functional compared to the simplicity of
Traditional's find feature.
I have hundreds of devices on my list, so it doesn't fit on a single
screen. With Console, I execute a find. I then need to scroll down
the list to see what device has been highlighted ..... it won't just
pop up.... then I need to double-click to get to the device on the map
-- three steps. With Traditional, I execute a find, and presto!, the
device pops up on my screen -- one step. This is a step backward, not
an enhancement, in my opinion.
I realize that development for cross-platform Console won't keep
InterMapper in the same form as Traditional. I would plead that you
don't get away from the "Mac-like" functionality of Traditional. We
all like lots of features, but none of us need a "clunky" interface
that requires more steps to accomplish a seemingly simple task.

You can view the Device List from the Window menu in Console, which
displays
the devices on all the maps on the server. You can then do a Find for a
specific device, then double-click the device in the list and it will
bring
you to the device on the map.

Subject: [IM-Talk] Feature request - InterMapper Console search across
maps
One feature of InterMapper Traditional that I sorely miss on Console is
the ability to do a "Find" of a device and have it pop up regardless of
what map the device was located. With Console, I have to do a "Find"
on each map. I manage a dozen maps and it really slows me down trying
to find a device if I don't know on which map the device is located.
