A note to the list.

I've got this working now thanks to Chris Sweeney from DartWare who
helped me with it. Very nice working w/ Chris, got me headed in the
right direction. Thanks Chris.

For those that may follow (or who search the archives as I did without
success) the deal is - for me anyway, ymmv - the pager number isn't
really the number to call. A different phone number for the pager
company (ArchWireless in our case) gets fed the pager number and the
message and the message then gets piped thru to the pager. Uses the TAP
protocol.

Can you elaborate a bit? I'm about to try to do this myself (well, TXT messages to cellphones, still SMS isn't it?) and I'm decidedly *not* a Mac afficionado :-) "TXT messaging from Intermapper for Dummies?"

Hi Jeff.

Glad to help as I'm able. I know Chris is the guy with the best help, but hopefully he won't contradict me ;-)

SMS is a different animal that alphanumeric text messaging. I've done a bit of sms'ing and 'all' that it's taken to make that work is an email sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] where ### is the 10 digit phone number and your there.

This gets sent over the 'net natch and therefore didn't do what we needed, out-of-band messaging. Say our internet connection dropped - it has - we want to be alerted.
