Hi Ted,
Well, I guess it could be done with a TCP probe, with a logic close
to this:
1: Send logon request to https SSO server
2: Evaluate reply
3: If ok, use redirect reply to test if webmail server is up.
The big question is how the SSO* server handle over the login info.
Cookie, session id in url or ???
If yon need further help. let me know..
*: Details about SSO? I don't know that product. Or is it Sun's
'Single Sign-On'? (Thanks Google)

Hi,
We need to probe whether our webmail application is up and
working. Webmail is only accessible after successfully
authenticating to the SSO server. Here is how it goes:
1) User enters webmail URL (e.g. http://webmail.macalester.edu)
2) Webmail URL is always auto rewritten to https.
3) Webmail app detects user is not logged in and redirects user to
SSO server, e.g. https://sso.macalester.edu
4) On successful authentication, user is then redirected back to
webmail server.
5) User will see certain text if webmail is up, e.g. "Inbox", etc.
or other "error" text if it is down.
This is a pretty stock SSO scenario. Has anyone else been using
Intermapper to probe whether SSO-enabled web apps are available?
Would you share how you got this to work?
Thanks in advance,
Ted
