I'm curious about how you use InterMapper's custom probe facilities today:

   - How many of you are making custom probes?

*hand in the air* - mostly SNMP probes.

   - What equipment are you testing?

MGE UPS (new cards without RFC1628 support)
Dell servers
Sun servers (ILOM)
Qlogic Fiber Channel switches
Infortrend SAN boxes
Areca RAID arrays
HP Procurve switches (Fan/PS failures)

MySQL (custom agent)
Mail queues (custom agent)
UCD process list

   - Do you ever use the contributed probes at:
         http://dartware.com/support/users/probes.html

Rarely - I don't usually find what I need there.

   - Would you be willing to share your probes with other customers?
(We're happy to publish them...)

Unable to because they're created on work time and I don't have the copyright.

I could probably be persuaded to create them on my own time if you were paying a bounty for new probes.

And for those of you building probes, what would you like to see in:

   - Tools for creating probes that use the current facilities

The ability to do line continuation to allow for more readable code.

A better construct than nested :? for turning results into human readable form - something like switch/case, although :? is needed for some variable types.

Longer lines for calculations - I've had long :? calculations exceed the maximum line length.

Dynamic displays - the ability to enable disable display sections based on calculations.

Better debugging than Reload Probes and watch the log.

More complete documentation - is it in the docs, only in a tech note, or just mentioned on the mailing list?

Calculations for on-demand tables.

   - New facilties for retrieving information from devices

A built in mib browser would be really useful.

-David
