Why do we users have to develop probes? Why doesn't Intermapper develop
the probes to make their product more valuable to it's user base?

Limited resources presumably. I'd personally rather have them work on something more useful to me than an Exchange (or any kind of MS Win service) probe that I'll never use. I monitor mostly standard RFC defined services and a lot of SNMP stuff using built in and custom probes.

Custom probes let me monitor what matters to _me_, not whatever the probe writer thinks is important. The probe language is pretty straightforward, if a bit limited still.

Subject: Re: [IM-Talk] Exchange and MS Windows monitoring

The standard Host Resources MIB (and probe) will carry the CPU,etc
info you want. (Set Probe...-->>Standard-Server-->>Host Resources)

If you walk the SNMP MIB on the Exchange box, you might see some
(few?) well-named Exchange-related objects.

I'm interested to hear others' experience with monitoring big MSFT
Apps like Exchange too.

Anyone?

Is anyone monitoring MicroSoft Exchange Servers with Intermapper.

There does not seem to be any MicroSoft centric probes in the
Standard Intermapper probes list.

There seems to be a MADMAN MIB that is supposed to be supported by
MS Exchange.

I am also interested in general performance hardware monitoring of
Windows boxes
for CPU, Memory, disk and network IO etc.

Thanks for any pointers.
