It seems at least a yearly thing around here that we decide we're going
to revamp our Intermapper alerts for cell paging, but the proposals seem
to be more trouble than anyone cares to (if they had the time to) spend
on updating the current scheme, so thought I'd get an annual update.
We have some low-volume alert forwarding we're doing via SMTP to a few
providers email-to-TXT gateways, e.g., Verizon's VTXT.
We would like a solution that isn't SMTP-dependent, as we seem to have
an overabundance of mail issues that generate alerts :-)
I've seen previous postings about IM plugins/interfaces to a
Bluetooth-driven cellphone to drive the TXT, but that seems a little
exotic and only lightly documented.
How about TAP paging?
Or SNPP?
What's the "state of the art" today?
Jeff
