Justin, What platform does SQL mail run on? If it is Windows, is it a separate process from the SQL Server service? InterMapper has an NT Services probe that can monitor the status of a Windows service. Depending on exactly what the platform is and how the mail client runs (service or process on Windows), there may be additional ways to monitor the status of SQL mail, such as a command-line probe or possibly via an SNMP extender.

Until we realized that listservs were backing up we were unaware. Is there a probe with Intermapper that can monitor this?
