Jon,

You should backup your InterMapper Settings folder prior to performing the
upgrade. You can then download InterMapper 5.0.4 and run the upgrade. If you
are upgrading an InterMapper installation on OS X or Windows, it is a
double-click installer that will upgrade your existing installation. If you
are running on Linux, please refer to the relevant readme in the download
page, as the instructions are different for each distribution of Linux.

After you upgrade the server, you can download and install the InterMapper
DataCenter. You don't need to create a database, as InterMapper provides a
built-in Postgres SQL database. If you prefer to use your own Postgres SQL
database, that is fully supported as well.

I've included some helpful links to get you started. The first includes
instructions on installing DataCenter, and the second on configuring the
InterMapper Database:

You can download InterMapper and InterMapper DataCenter from this page:

Subject: [IM-Talk] IM 4.6.8->5.0.4 upgrade

Can someone point me to a doc on how to do this upgrade, or should I just
install the new DataCenter, and Intermapper, and hope for the best? I'm
guessing I need to create a database, as the database server I'd like to
use is on another box.

I can't remember if I'm supposed to upgrade IMDC or IM first.. especially
with this whole 4x to 5x conversion where the database enters the
picture. Soon after this, I'd definitely like to take the NetFlows for a
testdrive.
