If you set up a command-line notifier the external program could handle all the date magic - that's probably the easiest way to go.

I set up something along these lines for my last employer (query a database to see which tech is on-call & email them), but the on-line management of the on-call system never caught on and I've since lost the nasty script that made it happen. It wasn't too hard to set up though.

Question:
Besides having a tech remember to update the notification for the holiday, is there a way to establish a date to be 'holiday' and treat it like a weekend? Is this a feature request ;)
