Even with long timeouts I am seeing alarms. Should they really need 10 seconds?

They run as command -line probes using the vbscript host. This makes them slower than probes built into InterMapper server. The major contributor, though, is that WMI is inherently slow. Running the same WMI queries using Powershell or other tool will show similar performance. Adjustment of response time thresholds and timeouts are often needed for WMI probes. All WMI probes include a timeout parameter accessible in Set Probe... which overrides the default form the device info or map settings.
