Even with long timeouts I am seeing alarms. Should they really need 10
seconds?

Mike,

There are two major reasons for the slow response of WMI probes. They run
as command -line probes using the vbscript host. This makes them slower
than probes built into InterMapper server. The major contributor, though,
is that WMI is inherently slow. Running the same WMI queries using
Powershell or other tool will show similar performance. Adjustment of
response time thresholds and timeouts are often needed for WMI probes. All
WMI probes include a timeout parameter accessible in Set Probe... which
overrides the default form the device info or map settings.

Regards,

-Dick
