Not to bead a dead horse here - any news on this feature request? This basic functionality has been open since May 2010.
I did some quick calculations, and as per Janice's suggestion (see email below) would involve adding over 2,880 individual member probes, just for one of our datacentres alone. Each probe must be manually entered, By hand, by ifindex/OID value. This does not scale at all. All that is asked, is to make a change to the existing "SNMP Traffic" probe - which already accomplishes this high utilization functionality. Just need to allow for (a) Alarm/Notification when exceeded thresholds, and (b) Adjustable Thresholds. (Users can then use the notifier system). Call it a "new probe" if you wish. Note that All the code/evaluations/etc.. required to accomplish this already exists inside the Dartware SNMP Traffic Probe. (it already behaves like this). If Dartware is interested, contact me off-list about a major ISP who is currently evaluating Intermapper for a large multi-datacentre monitoring deployment, and who is about to throw you guys to the curb because of this. As you know, I'm a major proponent of Intermapper (having introduced them to the product), but I have no response for them on this subject - other than to "hire some guy 5 days a week to do nothing but enter ifindex values into Intermapper probes all day". - Chris.
