First, upgrade to InterMapper 5.5.3, which fixes the "Parse error at line 1" problem. The generated KML file is not supposed to include the coordinates; the file you looked at contains a NetworkLink attribute, which tells Google Earth to load a second file directly from the InterMapper server, and to refresh that periodically (every 5 minutes, by default).
