no - ignore outages exactly like you said - wouldn't see the
transition............

the ctrl' is somewhat the same of multiple clicks.

have to click the device and then ctrl' - have to move hand from mouse to
kybd

more involved than click click click

of course I could become ambidextrous - click with on hand, type with the
other.............

Thanks for the suggestion.

A couple of things come to mind for this.

1. Using Set Behavior > Ignore Outages. 
  This may not be what you want because you won't get your flashing red
indication letting you know the device is down. Also it applies to the whole
device, not only the interface you're interested in.

2. Quickie acknowledge - select > CTRL quote > return
  I think this keyboard shortcut has legs. Not ctrl-" but ctrl' . Do you
think this one meets the requirement?
