Just curious from a user's perspective, it will be per-child only, right?
So there will still be much overhead if each child (sorry, talking about apache-childs with mod_php here ;-)),
has to fill its cache with that data.
Sure it'll help, but how much?

Nah. If we keep it to like 5-20k you will never notice it.
